What is the program for Advanced Materials and Substances of Emerging Environmental Concern (AMSEEC)?

We are an enterprise-level, multi-lab collaborative focused on developing timely, proactive responses to emerging environmental issues relating to advanced materials and substances of emerging environmental concern. We access the world-class expertise, capabilities and facilities of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC)’s seven laboratories (Environmental, Cold Regions, Construction Engineering, Geotechnical and Structures, Information Technology, Coastal and Hydraulics, and Geospatial) to resolve complex issues facing the nation and provide timely, cost-effective, and practical solutions. The ERDC has a unique capacity to engage well-coordinated, multidisciplinary project teams for execution of full spectrum research and development (R&D) efforts to address real environmental issues.

Our Mission: Coordination of enterprise-level research, development, test and evaluation efforts to solve the toughest environmental challenges relating to advanced materials and substances of emerging environmental concern (including analysis; exposure assessment; effects assessment; risk assessment and management; and data analytics and information management) and serve as the technical repository of science and engineering expertise for USACE and the Department of Defense.
